Rummy is a relations of games all containing a “draw and discard” idea in common. The game is played all over the World in many different countries, and the games are played by a wide range of people. Moreover, for the support of internet accessibility the online rummy gets so much popularity and offers players the chance to play many versions of rummy. Others, online rummy tournaments are also very much favorite to the players.

The origins of the Rummy games go back a couple of centuries. There is some divergence as to the origins of Rummy, and there are quite a few theories as to how the game came. A number of theories end that the game started in China, Spain, Mexico or the Southern United States. But the most well-liked theory is that the game was invented in Mexico.

Conquian origin theory: One of the most primitive games in the Rummy family was Conquian which some sources speak that it was invent in Spain. Assume that perhaps hundred of years ago it was invented in there and it was export to Mexico, and whom others insist was developed in Mexico in the mid 18th century. It also found in Texas and the American Southwest which was known as Conkin, Coon-King, Coon Can and Coon-Can. But it was found there in the late 19th century. Chinese origin theory: In the late 18th century there was a Chinese card game called “Khanhoo” which contain the distinctly Rummy feature of creating combinations of cards. So it can be also taking for granted as origins of the Rummy games.

Poker origin theory: Poker and Rummy both have about same similarities, in where cards are combined, both sharing the concepts of sequences and groups. From their, it can be considered that rummy evolved from Poker.

There is also a lot of opinion about the origins of the Rummy games. But nothing has big evidence to proof that it is the main origins of the Rummy games.
